Web 2.0

One of the tools that web 2.0 offers that I think can do a great job at furthering education is the website, blackboard. This site allows teachers to post grades, assignments, announcements, and virtually anything a student needs to know about the class. It is a great tool to help facilitate the effectiveness of a class.

One way that Facebook can be utilized in education is to form a class group where students can join. As a teacher, you could put information about the class and different articles that can help the students learn the material.

Creating the video for this class was a god experience for me. I had never created a video like this before so being able to do this was pretty cool. I feel like if I had to do this again I would be able to. This is a great tool to have as a PE teacher. You could use this while teaching your kids, during parent teacher conferences, or to promote PE. This is a great tool to have as a PE teacher.

iMovie Challenges

Overall the process of creating this movie has gone pretty smooth. I had a few issues with trying to get music that I could use to put to my movie. I wasn't sure what format the audio had to be in. After a bit of trial and error I just downloaded the music into iTunes and that worked perfect.

Figuring out the audio was probably the only major problem I faced. Everything else went pretty smooth.

Movie Storyboard

Adam and I have decided to make the theme of our videos "Fit 4 Life." The direction that we decided to take was to film kids performing activities that they can do pretty much their whole lives.

The first video would have a shot of kids dancing in a PE setting, showing different dance steps that the can do. The second video would have kids playing with hula hoops. After we got the footage we will have a few pictures of people doing those activities as well. Throughout the movie we would also have music playing in the background. That is a general outline of our two videos.

Our theme for our videos is fit for life. I wasn't in class last week so I haven't been able to make an outline. We will probably make a clip that has to do with showing different activities that parents and kids can do in their families.

Internet Safety

Internet safety is a tool used to filter inappropriate things from getting onto our computers and into our minds. I believe that anything that is set up to block vulgar things is a good thing. I think there are good filters out there that can be used but they should not be the only wall of defense that we have in internet safety. There should be practical uses in the home such as; having the computer in a place where people frequently travel, parents could have time restrictions on when their kids can be on the computer, or having a family discussion about internet safety. Whatever you do, just do not relay on a internet filter to protect your family from bad things on the internet.

Teens are definitely in need of internet safety. As a teacher I could briefly give a lesson about internet safety and make them aware of how to protect themselves. I could give them good programs that are out there that are designed to filter inappropriate websites as well.

I taught my roommate about internet safety. He thought it was a good lesson. I just went over the same things that we went over in class. He liked the idea of not having his birthday on his facebook page.

Class Website Assignment

This is my finished class website. It is pretty raw but I feel like I did a good job and that all of the information is there that was required. i have never done this before and was very impressed with how relatively easy it was and how useful it can be.
